Mozambique 2006
Our sister Ann was in Mozambique during the summer of 2006. Following is her report and photographs.
On our recent trip to Mozambique, the first thing you notice is the poverty and squalor with the people living in shacks at the sides of roads, some of them on or near the rubbish dumps. But then you notice the people, although not starving with hunger, they are extremely poor, yet they are very friendly, happy and content and always smiling.
In the capital Maputo we visited the T.3 church and helped to paint, varnish and do general cleaning work. We had the privilege of being present on the opening Sunday to worship there. The service, just over three hours long was memorable with singing so beautiful and joyful and the prayer time was amazing with everyone praying out loud at the same time. I truly felt the presence of the Lord there. We also shared with them at the Lord’s Table, and also at Tenga, Intacca and Khongalotte, all churches in the countryside, and Xipamanine in the town, all simply built structures with bamboo sides, tin roofs and dirt floors, yet the people came from miles to meet and worship every Sunday faithfully. They are definitely a people who are trusting and relying on the Lord for everything.
I learned so much from them, so please pray that the Lord will give them wisdom and guidance and will undertake for them in all their needs.
Acts.2 v 46-47.
